FOLU China Action Agenda

Guided by the overarching vision to enhance food security, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, foster economic sustainability, and prioritize holistic well-being for both humanity and the planet, this action agenda presents a strategic blueprint delineating China's path towards sustainable food and land use systems by 2030. The impetus for this transformation is underscored by pressing challenges—ranging from climate change and soil degradation to biodiversity loss and more. In September 2020, President Xi Jinping's commitment to peak carbon emissions by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060 opened a window for reform. FOLU China's all-encompassing Action Agenda emerges as a pivotal platform to raise awareness and stimulate discourse on the intricate interplay of food and land use. Stakeholders—policymakers, scholars, businesses, and civil society—are all encouraged to engage in this collective endeavor.
