Governance & funding

Governance

The Food and Land Use Coalition comprises nine core partners and operational teams in five countries. The coalition is overseen by a Governing Council with representatives from both the partners and country platforms.

FOLU is managed by its Executive Director with support from the global secretariat.

The Governing Council provides a platform for consultation around major decisions, including the strategic direction of the coalition, financial management and expansion in the interest of achieving FOLU’s vision and mission. The council meets on a quarterly basis to ensure FOLU is delivering on its objectives.

FOLU’s global secretariat supports, informs and acts on the guidance set out by the Governing Council in impactful ways.

Funding

FOLU is generously supported by a growing number of leading philanthropic organizations and funders.

In 2022, core funding for FOLU was provided by Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV), The IKEA Foundation, Meridian Institute, Norway’s International Climate and Forest Initiative (NICFI), The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), and Quadrature Climate Foundation.

NICFI is a founding member of the coalition as well as its primary donor.

As an independent coalition, FOLU decided in 2019 not to receive funding from businesses. Today, we engage with the private sector via our core partner, the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD).

We would like to offer sincere thanks to the philanthropic funders who support FOLU. Please get in touch if you would like to join us in bringing about the change that we know is possible.
