We are deeply saddened by the unexpected passing of Sir David Nabarro on Friday. David was not only a towering figure in global health and sustainable development, but also a dear friend and long-standing advisor to the Food and Land Use Coalition (FOLU). His wisdom, warmth, and unwavering commitment to building more just, inclusive, and resilient food systems left an indelible mark on our work and on all who had the privilege to know him.
David’s ability to hold space for deep, respectful dialogue—always listening intently, always challenging with kindness—was unmatched. He brought clarity and urgency to complex global challenges, and his belief in the power of people and partnerships was at the heart of everything he did.
His brilliant mind, generous spirit, and fierce dedication to creating a better future will be profoundly missed. Our thoughts are with his family, colleagues, and the countless people around the world whose lives he touched.
We are grateful for the time we shared and the guidance he offered so generously. David’s legacy will continue to inspire us as we carry forward the work to which he devoted his life.
