Governance & funding

Governance

The FOLU Coalition brings together International Partners, Country Platforms and their National Partners, and FOLU Ambassadors in a shared effort to advance sustainable food and land use systems.

The work is supported by a global Secretariat and country-level Secretariats that coordinate implementation.

A Steering Committee acts as FOLU’s main strategic body, guiding priorities and ensuring that collective efforts achieve greater impact. It is composed of senior representatives from International Partners and Country Platforms.

The Management Committee serves as the Coalition’s primary operational decision-making body, ensuring transparency and enabling meaningful engagement across members, and is made up of senior representatives from International Partners and Country Platforms.

Funding

FOLU is generously supported by a growing number of leading philanthropic organizations and funders.

In 2022, core funding for FOLU was provided by Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV), The IKEA Foundation, Meridian Institute, Norway’s International Climate and Forest Initiative (NICFI), The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), and Quadrature Climate Foundation.

NICFI is a founding member of the coalition as well as its primary donor.

As an independent coalition, FOLU decided in 2019 not to receive funding from businesses. Today, we engage with the private sector via our core partner, the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD).

We would like to offer sincere thanks to the philanthropic funders who support FOLU. Please get in touch if you would like to join us in bringing about the change that we know is possible.
